Meet The Owner
Adam Shildmyer
Dr. Adam Shildmyer PT, DPT, SCS, FAAOMPT

Adam Shildmyer, a Doctor of Physical Therapy and the owner of Vertical Sports Physical Therapy, grew up in Washington on the Olympic Peninsula and now resides in Edmonds, WA. He loves the community and enjoys exploring the local area with his wife, Celena. Together, they cherish outdoor activities like hiking and backpacking, often venturing into the mountains. They also share a passion for travel, having visited 27 countries to date. For Adam, exploring the world provides the opportunity to see life from different perspectives and appreciate its beauty.
In addition to his professional work, Adam has been coaching high school basketball in the local area for the past 10 years. During that time, he has been part of five teams that advanced to the state championships, with three of those teams winning the state title. He finds coaching not only rewarding but also a great way to connect with the community. Adam is also an avid golfer, frequently playing on some of the best courses in the Puget Sound area.
Basketball has played an integral role in Adam’s life. He grew up playing the sport and continued through college at Northwest Nazarene University, a Division II school in Idaho. It was during his college years that he developed an interest in physical therapy. Multiple injuries, including ankle sprains, back pain, and hip pain, led him to work with physical therapists. These experiences inspired him to pursue a career in the field.
Adam realized that physical therapy allowed him to stay connected to athletics while helping people achieve their goals and return to healthy, active lifestyles. This combination of personal passion and professional fulfilment ultimately led him to become a physical therapist and open his own practice.
